Already famous as Ed McMahon's nightly introduction for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, the inclusion of this bit of dialogue almost didn't make it into The Shining. It wasn't scripted, Jack Nicholson ad-libbed it, and Stanley Kubrick, having lived in England for decades, didn't understand it. His assistant saw the brilliance of it and convinced Kubrick to leave it in the final cut. Doing this caused these two words to become one of the most famous movie quotes of the twentieth century.
