Years after my father passed away, my mother found a yellowed and brittle scrap of paper amongst his things. On it my father had written, "The use of talent is infinitely more important than having talent.". My dad would often write down quotes he felt were important to remember. I do the same. I always looked at this slowly disintegrating piece of paper as a final message to me. At boarding school, I took a class with a teacher who always said, "Art is 1% inspiration & 99% perspiration.". After much trial & several errors, these messages have finally stuck.
The Beatles were/are incredibly talented. But they would be the first to say that what made them really great were the hours upon hours they spent playing shows in West Germany. Hard work makes you better. Spending hours doing the same thing over & over again makes you better. If you want to get better, work for it.
